The local Wal-Mart is the only area store with a "Christmas Shop" selling "Christmas Trees" and "Christmas Decorations". All of the others have "Seasonal Shops" sell "Seasonal Trees" and "seasonal decorations". As I do not wish to wish everyone a "Seasonal Greeting" and I'm not sure what a "Seasonal Tree" is; I think I'll do my CHRISTMAS shopping at Walmart. There is an interesting store in a large town about an hour from here that is owned by jewish people that also is selling CHRISTMAS merchandise. I thought this was interesting.

I prefer grilled cheese with bacon. Ever tried it?

YUM, YUM ! Add tomato too !
A new favorite of mine is a grilled cheese sandwich with pico de gallo(tomatoes, onions, jalapeños,cilantro, oil, salt, pepper, garlic).

quote:
swiss and cheddar with bacon and tomato on rye - the only way to go. jalapenos yes.
Mmmm all these combos sound really good. Sometimes I like just plain ole grilled cheese with pickles. No I’m not pregnant! [Wink]

The book signing went well, although I was not able to make it for the weekend and apparently I missed Frank Joseph who was supposed to be there for the Atlantis Rising Magazine.

Do you fry the tomato with the cheese and bacon or add it uncooked last?

brig - try pulling the bread apart and adding the tomato later. messy now ain't it?

of course you can cheat and cook the two slices open faced and avoid that dilemma. now, let's move on to the proper way to chop onions ...

without crying.

If you don't want to cry while peeling onions....use Vidalia onions. Ever think, perhaps, raw tomatoes could be used to top the sandwich. A common trick of old West Virginia hicks. If the tomato is cooked it is simply added with the cheese.

ever think perhaps that we don't top our cheese melts with raw tomatoes because it would be, so, west by god virginia like?

you know of course that when we go camping that rule doesn't apply ...

however, pissing on a divine tree is mandatory.

Uh, care to elaborate on what constitutes a divine tree? Deep in the West Virginia hills, where most of the folks who migrated from Scotland, live; there appears, amoung a few of them, a very high reguard for the Oak, Willow, and Black Walnut, but I wouldn't exactly call it "divine".

I cook mine open faced, just as the cheese starts to melt, put the tomato slices in/on the hot pan for 3-5 seconds each side to warm up the tomato.

jacob levy abraham was an interesting fellow. born in 1765 in king william co, va to mordecai and sarah (levy) abraham, he was raised in the jewish faith. but he had other ideas ...

converted to the baptist faith by a mr courtney he became licensed to preach in 1789. he married a ms armistead in 1795 and they had many descendants who became baptist ministers and/or were greatly associated with that branch of the church.

the great baptist scholar, robert semple, supposedly observed "mr abraham ... (of jewish parentage) ... quotes scripture with great readiness, but some think that he shows something of the jew still, in his preaching, by leaning more to the old testament ... "

now isn't that an interesting statement? what would the divine creator think about abraham switching races like that, er, i mean religions?

this reminds me of the interplay of sephardic and askenazi jews way up north in the 1700's. initially their scripture reading, tombstones, etc was primarily related in portuguese. then as more german/ashkenazi jews settled in town there became a bit of clamor over what language and certain teachings would prevail. call it a good old fashioned rivalry. and though a member of the franks family married into a sephardic line tis interesting to note the vicious forms of anti-semtism which swirled around at the time. one jewish merchant newly arrived was assaulted and his home basically invaded by a mob. the fellows threatened to rape the merchants wife primarily because she looked like governor clinton's wife (you can't make this shit up). however, the fellow who was the lead instigator was married to a daughter of mr franks. go figure.

mars you are familiar with the fact that there are numerous christian jews? The numbers are even increasing. Also, keep in mind that Christians use both old and new testiments.

Christian Jew ??? No such animal [Smile]

Christian = follower of Christ and
The Jews are still awaiting their messiah to come.
yes Christians use the Old and New testament because Jesus was Jewish ! I don't think you will find any Jewish folks using the New Testament.

I would think the terms got mixed up when you had Jewish people convert to Christianity, they would be termed "Jewish Christian".

Judaism is the old wine, Christianity is the New wine..

Matthew 9:17
Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Sorry about that, I am, but there are several thousand jews who have converted to Christianity. There is a large assembly of them here in the U.S. They are jewish Christians. Their numbers are even growing and they do support Israel very fervently. For that matter, so do I.

you mean palestinians didn't invent grilled cheese sandwhiches solely on the basis that they aren't really a people? and ron paul can't possibly win iowa because if he does it's not really what the people want. welcome to the new year.

and in other heretical news, the long held suspicion that santa replicates his physical body in a manner to serve corporal beings is consistent with that of jesus as a whole body separate yet divine from the father whilst also being one with ... a ghostly figment of space time/matter, therefor proving the separate yet inherent oneness factor. and it took that poor monk all those years to figure it out. then he died while studying gnosticism.

you get the picture. divinity and creationism merge together on this date to allow for the temporal santa to juxtapose his being, and commerce related philosophy, on our collective psyche.

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas.

your inability to discern my posts is of no consequence to those who do. likewise your confusion as to the true source of grilled cheese sandwiches ...

everybody knows that island natives who found cheese packages that washed ashore from a spanish galleon wreck were the first to grill it between slices of bread. as more booty washed up during the evening hours they pitched camp in the sand, marveled at the stars, and got crazy from the excesses of tawny port. it was the pearl diver who found the iron at the bottom of the sea. giving it to his favorite uncle, the grill became an object of culinary delight when thrust into the coals.

it was another 400 years before hellman's mayonnaise became an indispensable ingredient to the modern grilled cheese sandwich.

funny how we hijacked this thread, huh brig? for our own petty, selfish interests.

you know, while we're conversing and leaning on the fence (on the fence), smelling the barbecue, surveying each other's table ... why, i do believe that i see a jar of pickles that lacks a kosher stamp. would you mind passing that jar over here? i'm sure everything's proper ...

you think i'm bad?

on a side note - and i'm a bit out of the loop on these things ... but does LOFL mean lauging out ****ing loud? or is that the one about the doberman? [Confused]

You said I could. Keep that in mind. [Wink] Darwin was not entirely wrong but neither was he entirely right. He was not the Devils advocate that some Christian groups think he was nor was he the prophet of Athiestic thinking. Charles Darwin tried to think through he observations so they would be in agreement with biblical texts. He was a christian and I hope he remained one to the end but he was taking a pretty bad beating for his theory. Like any early theories however, not enough was known and evolution was way off track in several ways. The Intelligent Design group really is the most logical of the three camps.
