A single data point is irrelevant.
One must look at global temperature data over time.
One must examine global manifestations of increased temperatures as confirmation. These include global ice cover, rate of glacial retreat, ocean surface temperatures, range changes of temperature sensitive organisms.
A comprehensive review of all these factors reveals that the 10 warmest years in recorded meteorological history have happened in the last 11 years. They have shown a 50% reduction in Arctic ice cover in 30 years. They have shown unprecedented levels of glacial retreats at high elevation levels. And they have shown unprecedented movements of temperature sensitive plants and animals .

sunspot activity has been down; a good indicator of recent cause/effect climate data.
btw, ms. manilow, check out the data regarding the antarctic of late and get back to me. also, look at the mean earth temperature for the last two years and explain to me if you will what that means in terms of your argument.
we still don't have enough statistical data to wrap our heads around as of yet. however, one might relate the shifting currents and jet stream to events said to have taken place eons back when the areas of finland et al were a tropical paradise.

M, they already HAVE looked at them, and the Earth is now in a cooling period, and is far scarier than warming, because warming will correct itself pretty quickly whereas cooling can last thousands of years.
Actually, I used proof in the Earth Changes forum.
